Madras High Court allows teen to join with Dalit MLA husband

The Madras High Court on Friday allowed 19-year-old Soundarya to be with her MLA husband and dismissed the habeas corpus petition filed by her father. 35-year-old Kallakurichi AIADMK MLA A Prabhu, who is a Dalit, had married daughter of a priest. Soundarya’s father filed a petition in the High Court alleging that the MLA had kidnapped his daughter. In the petition, he stated that the MLA has been luring his daughter since the age of 15. But, Soundarya has informed the High Court that she met the MLA only two months ago.
