Winston Churchill’s legacy still painful for Indians

Over the past month, a number of statues of past leaders have been defaced around the world, during protests that were part of the Black Lives Matter movement. They have triggered a debate over the UK’s colonial history. In the latest report on the legacy of the British Empire, it would be an eyeopener for the present generation of Indians as to how their forefathers have viewed former British prime minister Winston Churchill, particularly in relation to a deadly famine that occurred in the country during the second world war.
