The Supreme Court on Wednesday will be hearing the petition of the AP government regarding the reduction of State Election Commissioner’s tenure through an ordinance. Earlier, the Apex Court refused to give a stay on the AP High Court’s verdict of reinstating Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar as the SEC. The AP government also sought clarity over the High Court judgement. The AP HC in its verdict said that the Governor has to appoint the SEC without considering the cabinet’s decision. The state government brought to the notice of the Supreme Court that Nimmagadda Ramesh was appointed by the then Governor on cabinet’s recommendation.
