The YSRCP government led by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has decided to defer the shifting of capital issue. AP Minister for Panchayat Raj Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy in Tirupati said it is not the right time to shift the capital issue.

AP Minister said the decision was made because of the present pandemic situation in the state. There could be a surge of the higher number of cases during July and August, the minister predicted. He said the decision of the shifting of the capital to Visakhapatnam would be taken at an appropriate time.

He has also reminded the Governor's recent address to the joint session of the Legislative Assembly and Council stating that the government has made plans to have administrative capital at Visakhapatnam, judicial capital at Kurnool, and legislative capital at Amravati.
