The AP government issued a GO directing all district collectors to know the opinion of parents as to which medium they want to make their children study. The task of collecting opinion from parents was entrusted to ward/village volunteers. Earlier, the state government issued two GOs introducing English as a medium of instruction in government schools from 1 to 5th standards. However, they were stuck down by the High Court. The High Court said in its order that the government should seek the opinion of parents before introducing English medium in government schools.
