SC to take key decision today over AP local body polls
A bench headed by Supreme Court Chief Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde will be hearing the petition filed by the AP government challenging the State Election Commission's decision to postpone local body elections citing the reason of coronavirus. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta will be representing the AP government while senior lawyer Parameswaran will be defending the AP’s Election Commission. There is a possibility that the Supreme Court might ask the AP government to approach the High Court. Even the YSRCP government may seek exemption from code of conduct in the Apex Court.
