Chief Justice Of India's Office Comes Under RTI Act, Says Supreme Court

The five-judge constitution bench, headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi and the apex court said that the office of the Chief Justice of India is a public authority and falls under Right to Information Act. However the Supreme Court stated that the right to privacy and confidentiality is an important aspect and a balance should be maintained while taking a decision to give the information from the Chief Justice of India’s office. Supreme Court stated that transparency doesn’t undermine judicial independency.
