TTD Annaprasadam turns 'Annapurna'; From Rs. 5 lakhs to Rs. 5 crores
Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) at Tirumala has turned a humble 'free meal' scheme started by then chief minister, N.T.Rama Rao into a massive 'free meals' for nearly 80,000 people daily. The scheme was started on April 6th, 1985, as Annaprasadam, with a donation of Rs. 5 lakhs. Ever since the donations are pouring into the scheme, increasing the number of devotees taking free meals at Tirumala. Besides cash, donors are transporting, provisions, vegetables, oil etc., which are being used to serve free meals daily.
