Gaja Cyclone to hit TN, heavy rains predicted
Cyclone Gaja is stationed some 570 kms in Bay of Bengal, from Chennai in Tamil Nadu (TN) and might cross the cost between Cuddalore and Pambam districts tomorrow, Indian Meteorology Department (IMD) officials said. The cyclone will cause very heavy rainfall in both TN and Pondicherry. Rainfall of upto 20 cms, with gales at 50 to 60 kmph, is expected. Red Alert has been announced in several coastal districts of Tamil Nadu. The cyclone effect might cause heavy rains with gales in Nellore, Prakasam and Chittoor districts of Andhra Pradesh.
