Vizag: Protests launched against SC’s decision to scrap the adultery law

The members of Jan Jagarana Samiti (JJS) on Friday launched a protest at GVMC’s Gandhi Statue in Visakhapatnam demanding to withdraw the scrapping of Section 497 of the Indian Penal Code that deals with adultery, The protested members were seen holding the placards mentioning the impact of illicit relationships in the society. They appealed the Supreme Court and authorities to withdraw the scrapping of Section 497. As per the new Indian law, a woman will not be held responsible or punished for the offence of adultery.
