Three national banks, Bank of Baroda, Dena Bank and Vijaya Bank, will be merged into one, as a part of the Centre's move to recover bad debts and clean up the banking system. The board of the banks will meet soon to chart out a road map and begin the process of merger, Union minister, Arun Jaitley said. Financial Service Secretary said that the government will continue to provide capital support to the merged bank. Most banks have become weak due to excessive lending and increasing NPAs.
