US threatens India with sanctions over S-400 defence deal
The US has warned India it could be facing sanctions if it goes ahead with the purchase of the Russian S-400 missile defence system. However, the new US Defence Bill gives President authority to waive sanctions for countries like India, Indonesia and Vietnam if lifting the sanctions would benefit the US interests. India is in the final stages of signing off 600 billion dollar deal with Russia for S-400 technology that can give India advantage of attacking 40 targets at a time with the range of 400 km.
