The Kerala government is proposing to provide interest-free loans for flood survivors of up to Rs 1 lakh. The money is to be utilised for rebuilding damaged homes and will be given in the name of the female head of the family. The government is in talks with the nationalised banks for rolling out the scheme as people have started leaving the relief camps for their homes. The Kerala government has estimated the loss of Rs 20,000 crore due to devastating floods.
