Kerala had earned the title of 'God's Own Country,' for its natural landscapes with hills, thick forests, rivers and waterfalls. All these lend the state a picturesque beauty that has made tourists throng the place, throughout the year. But at present Kerala is facing the worst floods ever. A colossal loss of lives and economy in the form of crops, businesses and life itself coming to a standstill. Environmental experts have however claimed that it is the state's own successive governments' thoughtlessness in haphazard urbanisation by cutting down trees, chiselling away hills and letting illegal mining go on unhindered.
