River Godavari has turned ferocious at Polavaram mandal, in West Godavari district, leading to several remote villages in the region being marooned. At least 19 villages in the area are cut off from the main land and officials are supplying essentials on boats to these villagers. The water level in Kadem dam in the area has risen to 12.9 ft. Authorities have warned of further rise in the water levels. It has been raining incessantly from the past one week in this region and also there are inflows from the upper reaches of the river.
