Messenger site WhatsApp, has begun to take steps to prevent the spread of fake news on its network. It has begun a brainstorming session with other social media sites as well as seven other companies to find ways and means to prevent fake news and rumours from spreading through it. WhatsApp was warned twice by the Centre to curb false news and rumours, as these were leading to serious cases of mob lynching. Indians are the largest group in the world who use the messenger.
