The Centre has relaxed norms for appointment of Secondary Grade Teachers (SGT), in primary schools, wherein those who have B.Ed. qualification are eligible for recruitment. However, they will have to complete a bridge course within six months of their appointment. The Centre made amendments in the rules to this effect in its newly published Gazette notification. Uptil now, only those who have Diploma in Elementary Eduation (DEE) were eligible for teaching in primary schools. With the new rule, even B.Ed candidates can teach in primary schools.
