UAE to tow icebergs from Antarctica to meet its water needs
UAE will tow icebergs from Antarctica to its coasts during the first quarter of 2020 to leverage them as new sources of water. The pilot phase of the project estimated at 50-60 million dollars will kick off during the second half of 2019. The company handling the project is currently developing technology which would ensure zero ice melting during the transportation phase. The project would place UAE on the glacial tourism map as the first desert country to offer glacial tourism to iceberg enthusiasts.
