With the adverse effects of demonetisation, people are insecure for their money in banks. Hence most of the liquid cash going out of the banks is not coming back proportionately leading to scarcity of cash in banks and ATMs. Providing all the statistical data, RBI claimed Rs 18.5 lakh crore currency has reached public after demonetisation, which didn't come back to the banks even partly because of the fears and phobia of public over its security for various reasons. RBI further stated that most of the currency was held up at homes by public which is not at all a healthy sign.
