A farmer, Mallaiah of Gangapur village of Jadcherla mandal in Mahbubnagar district, hanged himself to a tamarind tree in the village, after his money that was given to him as part of Rythu Bandhu scheme recently, was stolen. Mallaiah, who owes seven acres land, got a cheque of Rs. 33,000 as part of the scheme. Earlier, he was in debt upto Rs. 4 lakh. He went to the bank and encashed the cheque. When he received the money, a stranger took it from him saying that he would count it and ran away with it.
