In response to Opposition charges, blaming the Centre for cash crunch in several states, Union Minister, Arun Jaitley said that there is adequate currency in circulation and the cash crunch has occurred due to sudden, unusual rise in demands. The temporary shortage in several states would be 'tackled' quickly, he tweeted. Gujarat, eastern Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have complained of cash shortage, with ATMs going dry. There have been reports of non-availability of cash in Delhi too, reminding of the post-demonetisation phase.
