Forest officials are giving 'saline treatment' to the 800-year-old Pillalamarri (Grand Oak), tree in Mahbubnagar district. The age-old tree, which has extended in three acres, is the main attraction for tourists. However, it is now worm-infested and is getting destroyed. Despite the efforts of many, nothing could be done to save the tree. They were unable to detect, its origin. Finally, Mahbubnagar Collector, Ronald Ross stepped in and has handed over the tree to the forest officials. They are now injecting pesticides, through its thick branches, via saline. This might kill the worms and save the tree.
