Punjab Govt seeks Sidhu’s conviction in Road Rage case
Punjab government has urged Supreme Court (SC) to uphold the 1988 Patiala Road Rage case against it's own minister, Navjot Singh Sidhu. Sidhu was sentenced to three years in prison by Punjab and Harayana High Court (HC). But SC had given him bail in 2007. On December 27th, 1988, Sidhu had hit Gurnam Singh, after an altercation with him. The latter died in the hospital. Punjab Government told SC today that the conviction of Sidhu should be upheld, as Gurnam Singh died of brain hemorrhage and not heart attack as announced earlier.
