Journalists to lose Accreditation if news is Fake
The Central government today said the accreditation of a journalist could be permanently cancelled if the person is found to be generating or propagating fake news. The statement issued by the Information and Broadcasting Ministry says that it has amended the guidelines for accreditation of journalists over the increase of fake news being published or telecasted. When asked I&B Minister Smriti Irani about non-accredited journalists and editors of web portals spreading fake news, she stated that the Centre is considering to include them too.
