Cabinet approves Fugitive Economic Offenders Bill 2018
With criticism from the opposition over PNB scam and Nirvana Modi leaving the country, the BJP-led NDA government in its cabinet meeting has approved the Fugitive Economic Offenders Bill, 2018. As per the Bill, the Indian government can attach or confiscate properties of economic offenders or wilful defaulters, who have fled to other countries. Speaking to the media after emerging from the cabinet meeting, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said economic offences worth Rs 100 crore or more will be under the purview of the Bill.
