Telangana State Election Commission (TSEC) has disqualified 8,000 people, including sarpanches, municipal chairmen, ward members, councillors and members of other civic bodies. According to the report of Telangana State Election Commission, these disqualified members cannot contest for three years. It is alleged in the report that the elected representatives of local bodies did not submit their election expenditure after the election results. Though defaulters were given enough time by district election authorities to submit poll expenditure, yet they failed to comply. This has made Telangana State Election Commission to initiate the action.
