The AP government has directed the Cotton Corporation of India to open centres for purchasing cotton from farmers. The CCI is offering Rs 4,320 per quintal of cotton and it has opened 43 centres across the state. In order to avoid irregularities in purchase of cotton from farmers, the CCI is using software developed by TCS. But, the Rythu Sangam leaders are saying that farmers can get support price if the CCI purchases cotton for more than Rs 7,000 per quintal.
