Trump rolls out merit-based immigration system (RAISE Act)
US President Donald Trump has rolled out new legislation that aims to curb the level of legal immigration into the United States by proposing a skills-based immigration system. Along with Senators Tom Cotton and David Perdue, Donald Trump made an announcement about the Reforming American Immigration for Strong Employment Act (RAISE Act). The RAISE Act would favour immigrants, who can speak English and have desirable job skills. Trump wants to protect jobs of native Americans by not allowing immigrants to enter into the US and compete for less paid jobs.
