RBI Stops Printing Rs 2,000 Notes, Shifts focus to New Rs 200
The Reserve Bank of India has reportedly stopped printing Rs 2000 notes and is unlikely to print more in the current financial year. According to the sources, the central bank has stepped up the printing of other denominations, including new Rs 200 notes. The decision to introduce Rs. 200 notes were taken by the RBI with the consultation of Finance Ministry in March. The Rs 200 notes have been in print for a while and will be in circulation soon. According to the reports, it is also learned that there is a probability of introducing Rs 1000 notes after scrapping Rs 2000 in future. Official confirmation is awaited.
