Budget 2017: 8 key takeaways for Indian Railways and its passengers
Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Wednesday presented the Union Budget 2017-18 merging it with Railway Budget. Some of the key features of the Budget pertaining to the Railways are that plan size for Railways for the year 2017-18 has been pegged at Rs. 1,31,000 crore, including Rs 55,000 crore to be provided by the government. The other features included 3,500 km railway lines, which are to be commissioned in 2017-18 against 2,800 km in 2016-17, development of the 25 new stations by the financial year 2018, making provision of bio-toilets to all the coaches of Indian Railways by 2019 etc. Watch the video.
