TN govt. approves Jallikattu Bill through a special session

Tamil Nadu (TN) government approved Jallikattu Bill, at a special session this evening, by which holding of Jallikattu (bull taming sport) becomes somewhat legal. Madras High Court however refused to intervene as the matter is still sub judice with the Apex Court. Earlier in the day, the 7-day peaceful protests by youth on Marina beach turned violent, as police began evacuating them. There is still a handful of crowd at the beach. A judge and some lawyers are addressing the people, trying to explain to them the implications of the protests.
