Thousands of protesters, mostly students, have gathered at Marina Beach in Chennai demanding the removal of ban on Jallikattu—Tamil Nadu's bull-taming sport after talks with the government officials failed on Tuesday. The Supreme Court had imposed the ban saying it causes considerable pain on the bull. But the thousands who are fighting for the right of Jallikattu to stay say it is a symbol of Tamil pride and culture. Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Panneerselvam and AIADMK MPs have decided to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday, requesting him to bring out an ordinance of lifting ban on Jallikattu.
