Seeking Jayalalithaa 'Bharat Ratna' Petition Rejected by Madras High Court

Petition of Madras High Court Recommending Central Government for seeking Puratchi Thalaivi, of Bharat Ratna was rejected by Madras HC. Court made it clear that it can't give directions to the Central Government. It is known that after Jayalalitha's demise the demand of seeking Bharat Ratna to Jayalalitha has arose. On the other hand Tamilnadu Chief Minister Paneer Selvam wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to release a coin and a new stamp in commemorative of MGR's 100th Birth Anniversary.
