According to government sources, a Parliamentary Committee has recommended changes in the Consumer Protection Bill for making celebrities liable for the products which they endorse. The report has recommended stringent provisions to be made in the bill to tackle misleading advertisements and fix liability on endorsers and celebrities. This comes at a time when the Indian cricket captain MS Dhoni is facing the wrath of Amrapali residents of a housing project for endorsing a brand that hasn't lived up to its promises.
