It took me 7 years to set up Grameen Bank: Nobel laureate Yunus
Leaving behind a job in the United States, Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus moved back to Bangladesh in 1971 to do something for the poor in his country. He was moved by how people were falling victims to loan sharks who were taking away everything that the poorest of the citizens had. That forced him to form the Grameen Bank which was purely for the poor and to empower them to do something on their own. He is also the man who gave a phone to millions of Bangladeshis through his next venture the Grameen Phone.
