Midnight high drama in Chittoor; Police jeep runs over former Mayor!

Chittoor, June 24: Chittoor witnessed high drama around midnight on Thursday when the police searched the house of Purna, follower of former Mayor and TDP leader Kathari Hemalatha in Santhapet in the town. Police raided the house alleging that there was ganja in the house. Purna denied having any drugs in his house and criticized that police are filing illegal cases against him.
Meanwhile, Hemalatha got the information about the raid and rushed to the spot. She sat at the back of the police jeep along with her followers. Although, the CI ordered the driver to reverse the vehicle, which went on the legs of Hemalatha, her followers alleged.
The injured leader was shifted to hospital, where she was undergoing treatment. Doctors said that there was minor fracture in both the legs. An ultrasound scan was done after Hemalatha complained of stomach pain at around 1 pm. She may be shifted to Vellore CMC as per doctors’ advice.
It should be noted here that former Mayor Kathari Hemalatha submitted a memorandum to ASP Jagadish on Thursday evening, alleging that some people were threatening the witnesses in the murder case of her parents-in-law late Mayor Kathari Anuradha and Mohan.
Hemalatha’s follower Prasanna is the main witness in Mayor couple’s murder case. Prasanna’s brother Purna  family members alleged that police tried to store ganja bags in their house.
Meanwhile, Chittoor two town CI Yatindra said that they found ganja in Purna’s house after raiding. He said that they didn’t ran over the vehicle on the former Mayor.
