Remains of Satavahanas discovered at Mancherial
Archeologists are trying to unearth the remains of Satavahana dynasty, that reigned in Telangana, between third and first centuries, B.C. Excavations are going on at Kannamamidi and Patigadda villages of Hazipur mandal of Mancherial district. Historians have determined that Kotilingala was the first capital of Satavahanas. They expanded their kingdom from here. Remains of the ancestors of Gautamiputra Satakarni, the mightiest king of Satavahana dynasty, will be found at Kannamamidi and Patigadda villages, archaeological research revealed. Several artefacts like huge mud pots were found.
